Blue Valentine

I just got done watching Blue Valentine. Yes, it did take a while to get down here to Baton Rouge. I have to say even after knowing it was going to be a depressing, uncomfortable movie I am surprised by how sad the movie made me. I don’t think that any of the other people watching that movie had any idea what it was going to be about. They all ended up walking out pissed off.
You want to feel bad for Dean because he really loves her but Dean is happy to not do anything with his life. To not be anything but ordinary. He doesn’t want to do anything to make his life better.
It is just a sad movie about the break up of a young marriage. You totally see she is at her wits end. I guess the people walking out were right no one wants to be depressed by a movie. Yeah, I know I did it to myself. I knew what I was getting into when I was walking in. I’m by no means saying don’t go see the movie just know what you are walking into.

Motivation

So I will start off by saying I used to be a fairly skinny girl growing up. I never had any problems with my weight. Well I hit 26 or 27 and started gaining weight rapidly. By no means am I obese but I have gone from a 4 to a 14. It’s hard for me mentally being a big girl now. You can’t dress the same way and it just makes you want to shrink into yourself. Anyway, this is not what this post is about.
This post is about motivation. I have started running of late. I’ve never been a huge exercise junky. In fact I hate it! So I am looking for motivation to get up in the morning to run. I’ve got to do it in the morning because I am working two jobs and well we all know if you wait till the evening it will never happen!
I’ve decided to make a couple of goals for myself in the form of races. The Crescent City Classic is at the end of April and it is a little over 6 miles and Bay 2 Breakers in San Fran. is in May and it is a little over 7 miles. I figure it will kill two birds with one stone. Lose weight and have a sense of accomplishment.
So I need a little help from you guys. What do you do for motivation? Are there songs that make you happy when you run? How do you make yourself get up in the morning to work out?

The Challenger

Today is the 25th anniversary of the Space Shuttle Challenger blowing up. It really got me thinking about that day and what do I really remember. For my generation it is one of those days you remember where you were when you saw or heard. I was in the school library watching the take off when the shuttle exploded. I remember being so young but still feeling for the loss those families felt.
Do you remember where you were?

JJ GREY & Mofro

Going see JJ Grey and Mofro tonight at the Varsity! Love this guys voice! If you haven’t heard him go listen to “The Sun is Shining Down”.

Running in the rain

It’s been raining here this past week and I wanted to start my training for the cresent city classic and bay 2 breakers. So against all better judgement I took off for a run last night in the steady rain and dark. Funny, I found that to be the most fun I’ve had training for a race.
I just put on my poncho and running shoes. Hid my ipod under layers and took off. I didn’t run long 22 minutes to be exact but it was enough to get me off and moving and a day closer to my race goals. It didn’t hurt that I had a couple of friends who were crazy enough to run with me last night. Hopefully they are down to do it again tonight since it is once again raining. Wish me luck!

Hug Your Bellman

So apparently Friday was hug your bellman day.

Paris July 2010

I was missing Paris a ton this weekend so I thought I would post some of my pictures from my last trip in July.
A friend of mine suggested we both put on our berets and wish real hard and maybe we could make it back.

Lauren Conrad

I know most people may not agree with me but I am loving LC's new brown hair. What do you think?
